Alcaidesa Golf

The Alcaidesa Links Golf Course, just west of San Roque, between Sotogrande and La Linea, was designed by Peter Allis and Clive Clark and opened in 1992. It is the Costa’s only official Links course and the layout, running alongside the Mediterranean, amid natural vegetation and rolling hills, beautifully reflects the intention of the designers to work with the impressive contours and features offered by the location.

The outline of the Rock of Gibraltar and the distant Atlas Mountains of Africa beyond provide an awe inspiring backdrop to this 18 hole, par 72 course which is full of light, space, colour and atmosphere, in a unique blend of sky, earth and sea.

Alcaidesa Golf Course, Spain

Keeping the variation of the strength of the sea breeze in mind, Alcaidesa provides an enjoyable game for all levels of players. Major remodelling in 1999 included levelling out the greens and a new layout for the 10th and 11th holes and this work resulted in an excellent international competition level course that has since hosted several PGA tournaments.

Alcaidesa is within easy driving distance of several other prestigious golf courses, such as Valderrama, Sotogrande, La Canada and San Roque. Its excellent condition and position in the heart of the Mediterranean golf scene make it a popular meeting point and a favoured spot for many international players.

Buggies, clubs and handcarts can be rented at the club and facilities also include a driving range, putting and chipping greens, professional tuition for all levels with Pedro Sarria and a good sized ProShop. The restaurant and bar at the clubhouse offer a pleasant setting for dining and socializing and players can enjoy a swim in the pool after a round.

Alcaidesa Links Golf is part of a tastefully designed residential golf holiday complex, where holidaying golfers can relax in individual villas which are surrounded by extensive tropical gardens.
